as i continue exploring how jewelry modifies the body, i change my focus to the connection between beauty and pain. these pieces delve into the ways traditional jewelry can be interpreted alongside objects like torture devices, which modify the body through pain. i explore how societal standards of beauty, often driven by social media, commodify the body and turn pain into something normalized for the sake of achieving an idealized version of beauty. the collection includes not only jewelry but also 3d-printed and metal mini sculptures and ceramic work, reflecting on the blurred lines between adornment, beauty, and bodily harm.
